Weed control has always been an indispensable and integral part of agriculture from the time farming started. Weeds pose serious threat to crop productivity, native biodiversity, human and animal health and aquatic environment. Chemical weed kilers, when used properly, can be an effective component of an Integrated Pest Management program. In response to changing market dymamics, the discovery of new herbicides has declined significantly over the past few decades and has only seen a modest upsurge in recent years. In addition, herbicide-tolerant or herbicide-resistant crop technologies have allowed the use of existing nonselective herbicides to be extended into crops. An increasing and now major challenge is being posed by the inexorable increase in biotypes of weeds that are resistant to herbicides. Vibhuti Singh Jhala is Assistant professor and Head of the Department (HOD) of Agriculture, Himalayan Institute of Pharmacy & Research, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. His total Professional experience is of 5 years. He is pursuing his Ph.D. in Agriculture from SGRRU. Presenty engaged in Teaching and Research. He is specialized in Agronomyworked in Soybean plant for its organic and Nutraceutical Properties. Also havinginterestin cultivation, collection and standardizationof plants of medicinal importance. During his career Mr. Jhalapublished more than 5 researchand reviewpapersin National and International journals with impact factor. He has attendedand presented many conferences/ Seminar/ Symposiums. He is a life member of SAMVEDBHARAI,a societyfor socialand scientific research, as a subjectexpert. He has stuiedcore agriculture branchin his SeniorSecondary Classes.
Ms. Shagun is Assistant Professor, School of Agricultural Sciences in Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun, Utarakhand. Her total Professional eperience is 6 years.She is pursuing her Ph.D. in Agriculture trom SGRRU. Presently engagedin Teaching and Research.
